Dr Wu Jingjin of the Faculty of Science and Technology is the supervisors of the Mathematical Modelling Team. He believes that their instant problem-solving ability is rooted in the university's day-to-day teaching: "The competition requires participants to produce a complete answer to a completely unfamiliar problem within a short timeframe. Our regular curriculum, group assignments and presentations are specifically designed to cultivate students’ ability to explore and integrate knowledge."

Dr Wu Minglu of the Faculty of Business and Management, superivsor of one of the student teams, pointed out that the university’s English-medium teaching approach and excellent faculty have made students from BNBU highly competitive in the competition. Furthermore, in his view, the fact that students from FBM were able to secure an F Prize is precisely the result of interdisciplinary learning.
