To enhance the communication with the main campus of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), and to gain a clear understanding of the business environment, local employment situation and daily life conditions in Hong Kong's financial industry, following the positive response to last year's inaugural event, on 11th and 12th June 2026, the Master of Science in Data Science with Concentration in Business Statistics (MSCBS) programme organized the second cohort of students to visit Hong Kong for a short-term exchange visit. Under the guidance of Prof. Xiaoling Peng, the Programme Director, the students successively visited the Department of Mathematics at HKBU and Prudential Insurance Hong Kong Branch of the United Kingdom.

l Interaction Between Teachers and Students
After arriving at HK, the MSCBS students first went to HKBU, which is located in Kowloon Tong. Prof. Guobao Wu, Dean of School of Science at HKBU, Dr. Dehui Luo, Director of Operations Research and Business Statistics (ORBS) program at HKBU, and Dr. Zewei XIONG, a mathematics faculty from HKBU, met with MSCBS students and had a cordial exchange. Prof. Guobao Wu stated that HKBU and BNBU share the same origin and are closely connected. Their inter-university exchanges are frequent and there are rich and regular collaborations in areas such as academic research, student exchanges, and teacher interactions. Regarding the students' concerns about further studies and research opportunities, based on his many years of academic experience in the field of mathematics and data science, Prof. Guobao Wu, encouraged students to steadily build a solid professional foundation and continuously enhance their core competitiveness. Only in this way can they firmly grasp the high-quality academic platform jointly built by the two universities when opportunities arise.

The Master of Science in Data Science with Concentration in Business Statistics (MSCBS) is a one-year taught postgraduate program jointly offered by the Faculty of Science and Technology at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) and the Department of Mathematics at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). This year marks the graduation of its second cohort. Building upon the established Master of Science in Operations Research and Business Statistics (ORBS) program from HKBU's Department of Mathematics, this parallel initiative has long served as a platform for regular academic exchanges and practical collaborations between faculty and students from Guangdong and Hong Kong. It aims to help students deeply connect with high-quality local industry resources in Hong Kong, clarify their long-term career development paths, and cultivate versatile data professionals with both statistical modeling and business analytics capabilities.
